Free Day

It’s been a while that I didn’t sit on the reddish sofa and watch moving picture from a giant screen. Especially, a person who just start the first job, try to balance many activities in her schedule and also the price of ticket in Thailand is expensive (approximately 160 Baht each). However, last week found I the precious free stuffs.
Geothe Insitute’s event had German Film week, which started from 20 – 26 February 2012. In my mind think only “Ich mochte eine Film sehen und Deutsch gehoren lesson.” (forgive me if my Deutsch is not good since I had learned long time ago), which could shout in English as “I want to see movie and my Deutsch listening lesson.” . Moreover, it’s free! After I went through with film list, I decided to go with Romantic Comedy called “Lila Lila” on Saturday evening.  Sending the mail was the next thing, in the next few minutes, there was a reply from officer of Geothe said that there were seats available for me and asking how many ticket I want. Oh holy……..! I forgot that normally people went to cinema with someone. Then, hurriedly me asked around and thought that I was silly to waste such time because there’s no one in my friend’s list will go to see German film with English subtitle. “I think I will go alone, so just one ticket for me” that was my answer.
On Saturday 25th February, 2012 was the day! The movie started around 19.00 p.m., going before time and filling my stomach with Ham+Cheese sandwich. The meal was free by paid with Starbuck cash card I had as my New Year lucky draw. Find the name from the booking list, getting the ticket and ready to see Lila Lia.
I’d got seat G9 where I sat quite close to screen and in the middle of the whole theatre. You might think it sounded great, but will you feel strange if the next 4 seats (both left and right) had no one. Yes, no one, just only me! So I had 2 things on my mind. First if the staff I talked through email made some kind of joke? Or he was just so kind and booked the middle because he thought it is the best seat. I laughed to myself, feeling graceful that he gave me new and strange experience of seeing movie like this.
Now, talking about the “Lila Lila” was about a story of David Kern, the waiter, who fell in love with Marie Berge, a literature student. He tried to impress this lovely girl by lying that the novel that he accidentally found in the tray of antique he bought was his own work. Well, the girl impressed, fell in love with him and sent the copy to publisher. Surprisingly, loved by publisher and turned out to be a hit for market too. While he was giving autograph for fans, one man named Jackey came and claimed he was the author of Lila Lila (which supposed to be dead long time ago by car accident). A mess came from Jackey trying to control and be part of David’s famous. Until he felt unhappy and Marie broke up with him. One day, David found out that Jackey was a fault like him. He knew the author, but not the real author. Jackey was trying to stop angry David and fell off the hotel’s balcony. David wrote for the first time a story named “Das Nachttisch” or a bedside table about Marie and him. Well like other Romantic, it ended happy with Marie came back to him.
It might sound simple, but to watch and see different kind of joke and the way of human expression is kind of fun and very interesting in my opinion. Thank you for free stuffs that make my free day not just another silent day.
